GOP Rep. Chris Collins, charged with insider trading, is projected to win re-election in New York: NBC News


Rep. Chris Collins, the Republican recently indicted on federal insider trading charges, will retain his House seat representing New York's 27th District, NBC News has projected.
The three-term incumbent — the first House member to have endorsed the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump — apparently defeated Democrat Nate McMurray, an attorney, in the Buffalo-area district.
Collins had suspended his campaign in August after being arrested. But he relaunched his campaign in mid-September after efforts by the Republican Party to replace him on the ballot failed.
He is accused of tipping off son Cameron about a failed drug trial by the Australian pharmaceuticals company Innate Immunotherapeutics. The congressman was serving on the company's board at the time. Cameron Collins then allegedly sold his shares, before news of the drug trial became public and sent the price of the stock tumbling.
Chris Collins has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Collins' district strongly supported Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Trump won there by 24.5 percentage points.

Congresswoman to Google CEO: Why when I search ‘idiot’ do I get pictures of Trump?

In an effort to understand how Google search algorithms work, a Democratic congresswoman asked the tech company’s chief executive a simple question: “If you Google the word ‘idiot' under images, a picture of Donald Trump comes up. How would that happen? How does search work so that that would occur?” In the middle of a congressional hearing ostensibly about privacy and data collection, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) seemed to perform that search from the dais. As it turns out, the image results for “idiot” does reveal a page of mostly Trump photos. How the Avengers: Endgame trailer hints that Captain Marvel will save the day (and Iron Man)

The trailer for Avengers 4 — now officially titled Avengers: Endgame — arrived on Friday morning, offering a first look at the final chapter of the Avengers cinematic saga and raising a couple big questions in the process. Unlike Avengers trailers of the past, the Avengers: Endgame trailer does not contain snippets of giant fight scenes, nor do we see our favorite superheroes show off any of their powers. Thanos, the main villain of Avengers: Infinity War, barely makes an appearance outside of one scene where he’s walking through a field. Instead, we see characters like Captain America and Black Widow mourning their vaporized colleagues and trying to figure out a plan to save the world.
